Happening for the first time in Singapore. This is the only ballet competition that uses the Vaganova method. It pays tribute to Marius Petipa, who created the style of dance known today as classical ballet, and aims to preserve the traditions of classical ballet and develop individual styles correctly.
Marius Petipa is an icon of an era in Russian ballet.
Combining the harmony of music and choreography, the charm and elegance of France, and the spirit of Russia, he choreographed more than 60 ballet works.
He is known as the “father of classical ballet” for creating the stage form and style of dance called classical ballet today, and for determining the path of ballet’s subsequent development.
The theme of this competition is to learn from the classical heritage, protect the classical heritage, develop classical ballet, and connect it to the future through the choreographed works of Marius Petipa, who laid the foundation for “classical ballet” in modern times.
We believe that by preserving tradition, we can understand our identity in history and develop in the right direction.
